As we prepare for the upcoming timetable changes beginning Monday 2nd June 2025,
We’d like to clarify a few key points and explain how the transition will be managed.
These changes are designed to streamline our class structure and ensure every gymnast is placed in the most suitable group for their current level and potential progression.
🗓 Final Assessment Week: Starting Monday 19th May
We’ve already completed two rounds of assessments and will be carrying out the final assessment during the week beginning Monday 19th May.
📲 How to View Your Child’s Results
You can check your child’s assessment results online using our parent portal:
👉 Login here: https://anima.courseprogress.co.uk/login
Once logged in, select your child’s name and click on “View competencies” to see their skill progress and assessment outcomes.
🧠 How to Interpret the Results
When viewing your child’s progress in the portal, you’ll see two lists of skills:
- Skills they needed to be able to do to enter their current class
– These are the foundational skills your child was assessed on before moving into their current level.
They show whether key basics have been retained and reinforced. - Skills they are currently learning in their class
– These reflect the curriculum for their current level and are the main focus of assessments.
To move up to the next level, your child must achieve at least “Can do” on all the relevant skills in the second list. This tells us they are ready to take on the next level’s challenges.
If you’re unsure how to read your child’s results, don’t hesitate to speak to contact us — we’re happy to explain.
🧩 How We Decide What to Assess and Why It Changes
Our assessment criteria are not fixed — they are designed to grow with our gymnasts.
We are constantly reviewing what skills the majority of children are learning, attempting, and successfully performing in class. This helps us make sure we are assessing the most relevant and appropriate skills at each level.
As the overall level of our gymnasts improves, we may adjust the assessment criteria to reflect this progress.
This allows us to:
- Continuously provide the best support to each gymnast
- Keep classes appropriately challenging
- Make sure every child is working on skills that are right for their current ability
Because of this, there may be times when the assessment changes slightly from one cycle to the next. In some cases, it might mean that a child does not yet meet the new standard for their current class, and may be moved down a level to ensure they can continue building the right skills with confidence.
We understand that this can be disappointing, but please know these decisions are made with care.
Moving down isn’t a step back — it’s an opportunity to reinforce foundations and build toward long-term success in the sport.
🔁 How We’ll Handle Class Changes
We are already beginning to move children into the class level we believe suits them best, based on the results from the first two assessments.
We won’t be waiting until the final round of assessments to begin this process.
If your child has already achieved the required results, we will move them into the appropriate class as long as there is a suitable class available at the same time as their current session.
If there isn’t a class at the same time in the correct level, you will receive a notification, giving you the opportunity to initiate the move and choose a new class time that works best for you.
🔄 Preparations Ahead of the Change
We have already begun adjusting the timetable in preparation for June:
- All remaining Novice classes at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM are being removed.
Children currently in these classes will be moved into the Intermediate class at the same time (if suitable).
Parents will also receive an email informing them that their child is ready for a Novice class, in case they’d prefer to choose a different time. - The same process applies to Intermediate classes that begin at 5:00 PM, which are also being phased out.
🧾 How We’ll Handle Price Differences from June
If your child is moved into a class with a different fee (e.g. moving from Novice to Intermediate),
we will review any payments or credits you already have on your account.
We’ll then calculate the difference in fees based on the number of sessions remaining in your current block or monthly cycle.
You’ll receive an invoice to pay the outstanding difference (if applicable), or a credit note if you have overpaid.
This helps ensure a smooth and fair transition for everyone.
