Leotard requirement from September term
As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of our gymnasts, we are introducing a new policy regarding appropriate attire during training sessions.
From Monday 2nd September – it will be mandatory for all girls to wear leotards during their gymnastics classes.
This will include the following classes:
Reception, Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced (School Years 1 – Year 5) and All levels (School Years 6 – Year 11).
We’ve noticed that some gymnasts have been wearing baggy clothing or crop tops.
While these might be comfortable, they can pose several challenges in a gymnastics environment.
Baggy clothing can obstruct a coach’s view of the gymnast’s form, making it difficult to ensure proper technique and safety. Additionally, gymnastics often requires physical support from coaches. Wearing inappropriate or loose-fitting clothing can lead to discomfort for both the gymnast and the coach during these necessary interactions.
By standardising the requirement for leotards, we aim to:
- Enhance safety by ensuring that coaches can clearly observe and assist with correct techniques.
- Ensure that all gymnasts feel comfortable and confident during their sessions.
- Maintain a professional and consistent environment for all participants.
Gymnasts are more than welcome to wear shorts or leggings over their leotards. They may also wear a top over the leotard, but if it is too baggy and poses an issue, they will be asked to remove it for the reasons stated above.
If you are not sure where to purchase one, here are some helpful Leotard websites,
(Please note: there is no specific leotard requirements – it can also be purchased on Amazon!)

We understand that this change may require some adjustments and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
